Desi Toast

An interesting desi spin on the classical French toast! With the addition of cilantro, onion & red chilli powder, this recipe screams 'd-e-s-i' with every bite!

What a perfect way to start your day on a spicy note! If you are a 'heat' lover, then this is 'the' recipe for you. Try it and I am sure you will be getting back to this recipe again and again, just like me!

This desi toast will be a perfect evening snack too!

Basic Info
Complexity - Simple
Prep time - 5 mins
Cook time - 15 mins
Servings - 8 breads

Ingredients
Bread - 8 slices
Sooji - 1/2 cup
Yogurt - 1/2 cup
Onion - 1/2 (finely chopped)
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Coriander leaves - 2 tsp (finely chopped)
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Ghee - as required to toast
Salt - to taste

Method
Mix all the ingredients except bread to make a semi thick batter. Take a spoonful of the batter and smear it on one side of the bread. Repeat this for 2 (or) 3 breads and keep them ready!

Heat a skillet on medium and when hot, add about 1/2 tsp of ghee to it. Now, carefully place the smeared side facing the skillet. While the battered side is cooking, smear the other side of the bread with a spoonful of batter.

After about 2-3 mins, flip the bread gently and let the other side cook till both the sides are golden brown.

These savory toasts are good enough to eat by themselves or if you like, a little tomato ketch-up on the side would be just perfect.

My daughter & VJ couldn't have enough of this savory treat for breakfast! It was totally yummmm!!!
